This Work Group will focus on the key research question, ‘How can Oracy deepen pupils’ mathematical reasoning?’
The Work Group will focus on the use of precise mathematical language and stem sentences to enhance children’s mathematical reasoning. It will review how stem sentences can be incorporated into lessons to deepen understanding and how teachers can use talk and questioning to develop and strengthen pupil’s explanations.
Schools will work collaboratively to develop a strategic approach to implementing and developing oracy within mathematics and build up to having precise language and stem sentences embedded within mathematics lessons.

This Work Group is available to schools within Bradford, Leeds and Calderdale. If your school is not in this region we will not be able to provide a place on the Work Group for you.
