Meet the West Yorkshire Maths Hub Team!

Meet Tara

Tara is our Assistant Hub Lead for Secondary. She oversees the Secondary Teaching for Mastery Work Group programme. We asked Tara a few questions about her role at the hub and what she gets up to outside of work!

Tell us what you love the most about your job?

I love the fact that my role enables me to work in a number of different schools, with amazing and inspiring teachers. I also feel lucky that I get to really think about the pedagogy of teaching maths.

What is a typical day for you?

There really is no typical day, and that’s what I love. One day could include visiting a school to support our new Mastery Specialists or facilitating an open classroom for teachers of the schools we work with. An afternoon could be spent delivering face-to-face or online workshops, or visiting schools to support them embed mastery teaching in their department.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?

When I’m not at work I love to travel and explore new places. I have a passion for the water and enjoy scuba diving holidays, even in the UK I’m drawn to lakes and the coast for cold water swims. This year my aim is to take up paddleboarding!
