Higher Level Maths Achievement Programme

GCSE Higher Tier Teachers
Commitment
3 days
Location

The new collaborative Maths Hub/AMSP programme for 25/26 will continue in 26/27 for both existing participants in 25/26 and a new cohort. It is designed to support schools with a high proportion of students from disadvantaged backgrounds with high KS2 attainment, so they achieve grades 7-9 at GCSE Maths.

This Work Group is for teachers from eligible schools with a high proportion of disadvantaged students. The Work Group
provides professional development to support participant teachers to engage with the wider Higher-level Maths Achievement Programme, which includes classroom resources and student study days. Participants will explore effective pedagogical approaches which enable all students to access and deeply understand the most challenging content at Key Stage 4, with a particular focus on ensuring students with high prior attainment at KS2 achieve grades 7-9 at GCSE. Participants will be expected, where appropriate, to work with colleagues in their own department to refine their practice, and to enable students to attend the study days.
Participants’ schools must commit to:
• releasing them to attend all Work Group sessions
• allowing them to develop their practice in their classroom and share this with departmental colleagues
• allowing their students to participate in additional AMSP activities to support higher attainment in maths.
Participants must commit to:
• attending all Work Group sessions and engaging with and completing school-based tasks between Work                                      Group sessions.
