RIWG: Effective Multimedia Learning – Primary & Secondary

This Work Group aims to look at the latest research and take an in depth look at the key principles and how they can be applied to make learning maths more effective.

This Work Group is suitable for those in primary or secondary settings.

In recent years there has been a lot of research into what makes the most effective multimedia learning.  Most lessons taught in schools now feature some form of multimedia learning, be it a video, PowerPoint or animation.  This Work Group aims to look at the latest research and take an in depth look at the key principles and how they can be applied to make learning maths more effective. Participants will:

  • Understand Mayer’s 12 principles of effective multimedia learning.
  • Show how they can be applied to home learning or in class learning.
  • Look at how these principles look in practice.

What is the cost?

The Effective Multimedia Learning Work Group is fully funded by the Maths Hubs Programme so is free to participating schools.
